Description

The so-called Hessdalen lights appear over and near the high valley of Hessdalen, which is located near the towns Holtålen and Trondheim in the province of Sør-Trøndelag. They are most often perceived and described as colorless to bluish or reddish lights of varying intensity, shape and size. While many of them are only a few seconds visible, there are also recordings of several minutes length. Some lights move slowly, others with speeds of up to 30,000 km / h Still others hover motionless in the sky or near the bottom. Common to all appearances is her surprising appearance and their equally sudden disappearance. In two documented cases, the light balls left traces in the snow and unusual residues.

Research

In 1983, the Project Hessdalen AMS was founded. 1998 established the college of Østfold an automatic measuring station in Hessdalen. The station is equipped with multiple cameras that have night vision, and infrared cameras fitted to a magnetometer, a weather station and sensors for electromagnetic radiation.
