The Hesselnberg in the Taunus in Hesse Bodenrod Wetterau is about 518 m above sea level. NHN is the highest mountain in the northeast of the Eastern Hintertaunus.

Geography

Location

The forested Hesselnberg located in the northeast of the Eastern Hintertaunus in Taunus Nature Park. In Butzbacher forest located to its summit rises 850 m ( air line) east-southeast of the village church of the hamlet Butzbacher Bodenrod. Slightly south-west of the summit is a transmission tower.

Neighboring mountains

Among the neighboring elevations of Hesselberg include its northern neighbor Gickel ( 505.1 m ), the Northeast foothills hornbeam head ( 492.3 m), the north-northeast of it over a notch to reach Hinterste head ( 491.1 m), 2.5 km east-northeast lying Brüler mountain ( 424.2 m) and 1.5 km west south west (as the crow flies) Thunderhead ( 485.2 m).

Watershed and river

The Hesselnberg lies on the watershed between the Lahn and Main, two tributaries of the Rhine. North runs past, beyond the Gickel, approximately in the east-west direction in the source near the headwaters of springing in Espa Lahn influx Solms stream that is fed by the west of the survey of Bodenrod flowing northward Eichelsbach. East runs in source near the headwaters of the Fauerbachs, and south-east rises the Forbach inflow Krebsbach; ultimately reach the water by the United States Weather and the Main.

The Hesselnberg heard in the main physiographic unit Taunus group ( number 30) in the main unit Eastern Hintertaunus (302) for natural floor Roder peaks ( 302.2 ).

Transport links

North passes the Hesselnberg, beyond the Gickel, along the Solms Bach between Espa and Weiperfelden the country road 3053 west passes between Weiperfelden, Bodenrod and Michel Bach, L 3270, and southwest passes of Bodenrod to Munster L 3353rd out of the woods leads to the European long-distance hiking trail E3.
