Heteromita

Heteromita is a genus of heterotrophic flagellates from the group of Cercomonadida. The genus is one of the most widespread and common Zooflagellaten in soils.

Features

The protozoa are oval and have a small rostrum. The two scourges put on subapical. The anterior flagellum is usually short and the side kicks and stiff. The posterior flagellum is dragged during sliding. The pseudopodia are small and are mainly formed at the rear end of the cell. Pseudopodia serve for receiving the bacteria. During the movement of the rear end of the cell is shaken in a characteristic manner.
