Hetschenbach

BW

The Hetschenbach is a Kerbsohlentalgewässer in the south of the Saarland and is trimmed of alder, ash and willow. It flows through the city and empties into Walsheim Gersheim in the assemblies.

Course

The Hetschenbach rises on the slopes of the Great Kahlenberg west-southwest of Böckweiler, which is already beyond the watershed at the headwaters of Schreckelbaches, at an altitude of nearly 400 meters above sea level. NN and ends at an elevation of 205 m above sea level. NN in the center of Gersheim in the assemblies.

Two sources constitute about 100 meters south or west the Hetschenbach, the further north gelegenere of the two sources is considered to be the main origin. The water entspring - as with many other sources of this region - at the boundary layer between the overhead, some of them very leached Middle Muschelkalk and the underlying clay / marl layer. In the floodplain, there are clayey deposits. A little below the junction of the two creeks run the water is dammed up to a cattle trough.

Above Walsheim follows the creek largely unhindered natural conditions, while a mostly trapezoidal concrete bed determined on its lower reaches its flow.

Due to nature of the soil, there is a relatively high hazard potential for leaching of nitrate and similar hazardous materials for the water balance. The extensive land use (mainly forest and meadows ) decimated this danger, however. Walsheim is not yet connected to the network of sanitation. The dirty water of households is supplied collectors. The Hetschenbach has the water quality class II In Walsheim is located at 245 m above sea level. NN a level which is maintained by the Saarland State Office for Environmental Protection and Occupational Safety ( LUA).
