Hexafluoropropylene oxide is the peroxide to Hexafluoropropene.
Production and representation
Hexafluoropropylene oxide can be obtained by oxidation of hexafluoropropene with alkaline hydrogen peroxide.
Use
Hexafluorproplyenoxid is used as a raw material for perfluoralkoxy polymers. It is also the starting material for the lubricant Krytox.
Further Hexafluorproplyenoxid is involved in the majority of synthetic routes of fluorinated ionomers.
