Hilary Evans

Hilary Agard Evans ( born March 6, 1929 in Shrewsbury, † 27 July 2011) was a British image archivist, parapsychologist and author.

After studying at King's College, University of Cambridge and at the University of Birmingham he worked from 1953 as a copywriter at the agency Mather & Crowther.

Together with his wife Mary ( née Lander; 1936-2010 ), whom he had married in 1956, he founded in 1964 the Agency Mary Evans Picture Library, which specialized in illustrations from the 18th and 19th centuries. In 1981, he was among the founders of the Association for the Scientific Study of Anomalous Phenomena ( Assap ). He was also a member of the Society for Psychical Research (SPR ) and the British UFO Research Association ( BUFORA ).

In his nonfiction, he dealt with topics from the fields of art and social history, as well as paranormal phenomena such as UFOs, their socio- cultural background, he sought to capture. One of his research areas was the phenomenon of Street Lamp Interference (SLI; streetlights interference).

In December 2010, he donated his private collection to the Archives for UFO Research in Sweden.
