Hindustani Covenant Church

The Hindustani Covenant Church ( HCC) is an evangelical, congregational organized church in India. It emerged from the ongoing mission work since 1939 the Swedish Mission Church and was officially founded in 1963. The HCC has 111 congregations and almost 23,000 members.

History

1939 was the decision of the Swedish Mission church to begin a mission work in India. 1940 came the first missionaries to Bombay and Pune in Maharashtra State. 1948 expanded the work according to Solapur, where a health program for the remote villages was launched. In 1963, the Hindustani Covenant Church was founded. First " moderator " was Pastor B. Thomas. The work of the Church continued to expand. In addition to various social projects developed church planting work in Karnataka (1968 ), Orissa and Uttar Pradesh (2000), in the Andaman Islands (2001), in Gujarat (2002), Goa (2003), Jammu and Kashmir (2004), Andhra Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana (2005) and Bihar (2007).

Social Work

With a number of diaconal work branches the Hindustani Covenant Church tries to deal with the social need, she encounters in her work.

It started with the health program in Solapur 1948. 1967 was the Solapur Well Service, an organization whose goal is the construction of wells and the production of hand pumps. In 1981, the St. Luke's Medical Society was founded, which should coordinate the growing health work of the church. The Company maintains a hospital in Nannaj in Maharashtra and one in Karnataka awrad.

In the years 2002/2003, the aid organization Covenant Social Service (CSS ) was developed that provides a holistic approach to evangelism, literacy, medical care and social work especially in slums and villages.
