Hippolyte Lucas

Pierre Hippolyte Lucas ( born January 17, 1814 Paris, † July 5, 1899 ) was a French entomologist and Arachnologe.

Life

His brother Prosper Lucas (1808-1885) was a physician, whose works were widely read in the field of heredity in the 19th century. He was first a research assistant and also a taxidermist, and later worked as an assistant at the Muséum national d' histoire naturelle in Paris. From 1839 to 1842 he was involved in a scientific Commission for the Study of Algeria and mainly dealt with the entomology of the country. He published papers on the spiders of the Canary Islands ( 1838), Crete (1853 ), Brazil ( 1857) and Cuba ( 1857)

His brother was the French physician Prosper Lucas (1805-1885), the author of the work Traité Philosophique et de l' physiologique hérédité naturelle (Paris 1850) was.
