Hissar
Hissar is the most common transliteration of the Tajik- Persian geographical term " ҳисор " of the Arab- Turkish word " hisar " (Arabic حصار, DMG Hisar ), where they run "fortress" means. In some geographical names also the term " Gissar " ( isb. " Gissartal ", " Gissargebirge " ) is common, which is from the transcription of the same sounding Russian transliteration ( " гиссар " ) emerged.
Hissar called:
- Hissar ( district ), a district in the west of Dushanbe
- Hissargebirge, a mountain range in western Tajikistan and Uzbekistan Southeast
- Hissartal, a fertile valley in the west of Tajikistan, in which is partly Dushanbe
- Hissarkultur, a Neolithic civilization in what is now Tajikistan, the west of Dushanbe
- Hissarschafe, a breed of sheep from the Hissartal in western Tajikistan
Hissar referred several fortresses in Tajikistan:
- Hissar or Hissarfestung, eponymous fortress of Hissar (Tajikistan) from the 18th and 19th centuries
- Gardani Hissar, a Sogdian fortress from the 5th to the 8th century in the north- west of Tajikistan ( Ainidistrikt )
- Puschti Hissar, a fort in the northwest of Tajikistan ( Ainidistrikt )
