Historic Scotland

Historic Scotland ( Scottish Gaelic: Alba Aosmhor ) is a Scottish Commission (" Executive Agency of the Scottish Government" ), which takes care of the maintenance and preservation of archaeological and historical sites in Scotland.

Historic Scotland is under the Scottish Executive Education Department. The Authority was established in 1991 and manages over 360 historically valuable objects, such as

• Edinburgh Castle
• St. Mungo 's Cathedral
• Stirling Castle
• Urquhart Castle
• Linlithgow Palace
• Caerlaverock Castle
• Skara Brae
• Jarlshof
• Loch Leven Castle

Historic Scotland provides a so-called Explorer Pass at a ticket to more than 70 castles, palaces, parks and gardens that are cared for by Historic Scotland.
