Hitler Youth knife

The HJ- airspeed indicator was introduced after the seizure of power by the Nazis in the summer of 1933 in the Hitler Youth and the young people, but was not prescribed part of the uniform.

The basic shape of the knife was modeled on the military bayonet with metal scabbard with their ability to carry on the coupling (ie belt). By August 1938 on the knife blades the motto " Blood and Honor " was etched.

After the Second World War, the manufacturers used on the existing production facilities and made the knife for scouts. The Nazi symbols have been mostly replaced by the scout lily. Also accounted for the etched motto. The rough outer shape, especially the blade and the sheath, were also found a model for the old Surveyor of the German Bundeswehr.

The HJ- airspeed indicator could be purchased in the licensed retail sector Reichszeugmeisterei for 4 RM.
