Hjaltadans

Hjaltadans (also Haltadans or fairy ring called ) is a stone circle at Houbie, north of Skutes Water on the Scottish island of Shetland Fetlar.

The hard to find stone circle about 11 meters in diameter and is made up of 38 stones, of which 22 are still in situ. In the stone circle a mound of 7.9 meters in diameter, with a 1.5 meter wide gap exists in the southwest. In the middle there are two menhirs.

According to J. Jakobsen, means Haltadans: " lame or limping dancer ". This is a reference to the legend that the stone circle was once a circle of dancing trolls and the two rocks in the middle, a violinist and his wife. They had danced all night, and were petrified at sunrise.
