HMS Thetis (1846)

The SMS Thetis was an English frigate, which was acquired on January 12, 1855 in exchange for the Radavisos SMS Salamander and SMS Nix of Prussia and afterwards served in the Prussian Navy.

At the turn of 1859/1860 the Thetis, Frauenlobstraße SMS and SMS Arcona broke from Rio de Janeiro from a trip to Asia to Japan, which they reached in late summer 1860. On 2 September 1860, small Prussian squadron Yokohama was caught in a typhoon, in which the Frauenlobstraße was lost with all 47 man of her crew. The rest of the squadron continued his journey. From Japan we went to Shanghai in China. About South Africa was reached after two years of Danzig.

On 28 November 1871, the Thetis was deleted from the list of ships of war and used thereafter as the Hulk. 1894 was finally scrapped.
