HMS Vanguard

At least ten warships of the Royal Navy have been named HMS Vanguard or wear.

  • The first HMS Vanguard was a galleon, which was built in 1586 and scrapped in 1630
  • The second HMS Vanguard was a ship of the line with two decks and 56 guns, which was built in 1631 and sunk in 1667 as a barrier in Medway
  • The third HMS Vanguard was a ship of the line second class with three decks and 90 guns, which was built in 1678 and scrapped in 1703
  • The fourth HMS Vanguard was a ship of the line third class with 70 cannons, which was built in 1748 and sold in 1774
  • The fifth HMS Vanguard was a ship of the line third class with 74 guns, which was the 1787 built and 1821 scrapped. It took, inter alia, at the Battle of the Nile (1798 ) part and served temporarily as flagship Nelson
  • The sixth HMS Vanguard was a ship of the line second class with 78 cannons, which built in 1835, renamed in 1867 in HMS Ajax and in 1875 was scrapped
  • The seventh HMS Vanguard was an armored battleship that was launched in 1869 and was scrapped in 1875 after a collision
  • The eighth HMS Vanguard was a battleship of the St. Vincent class. She ran in 1909 from the pile and fell in 1917 by an ammunition explosion chamber in Scapa Flow, with 843 crew members died
  • The ninth HMS Vanguard was the last battleship of the Royal Navy. She ran from 1944 batch, was put into service in 1946 and 1960 canceled
  • The tenth HMS Vanguard is a nuclear submarine with ballistic missiles and eponymous for the Vanguard class. She ran in 1992 by the stack
