Hochberg (Haardt)

The high mountain is a 635.3 meter high mountain in the middle Haardt in the Palatinate Forest. It lies within the boundaries of the town of Sankt Martin (Pfalz ) in the district of Southern Wine Route in Rhineland -Palatinate ( Germany ). After Kalmit ( 673 m), the boiler mountain ( 662 m ) and the Rossberg ( 637 m), it is the fourth highest mountain in the Palatinate Forest.

Location

The mountain is located south to the Kalmitmassiv belonging width and mountain hut mountain between the St. Martiner valley in the north and the Edenkobener valley in the south. In addition to the main peak is located southeast of the ostrich mountain ( 583 m) as the pre-peak. In the east, the massif falls to the Rhine valley from wherein even smaller mountains with the Kropsburg (334 m), the Heidelberg ( 338 m ) and the Werder mountain ( 350 m) upstream from the Peace Memorial. To the west of the mountain adjacent to the sheep's head (617 m), with which it is connected by a mountain saddle at the St. Martiner hut ( 486 m). In the fully wooded summit is a stone cone, which Steinernes KÖPPL is called. Not far from the summit is the chimney rocks, from which a view is possible in the Rhine valley.

Additions and hikes

The high mountain peaks can be reached via marked trails from the east from the Kropsburg or from the west by the Wegspinne at St. Martiner hut.
