The high head is a wooded ridge north of Todtmoos in the southern Black Forest. The peak counts with 1263.4 m above sea level. NHN 's 20 highest peaks of Baden- Württemberg.
The Hochkopf limited than east-west running ridge the Präger glacial cirques in the south. About the sloping there Karwänden the ridges are partially sharpened gratartig.
The area around the high head is a particularly quiet. On the summit of the high head a small lookout tower called high head tower was built in 1925. Further below is located on the western route (Eastern variant), the Hochkopfhaus, formerly a youth hostel in the Black Forest Association, now a private hotel.
When temperature inversions offers from up here a clear view of the Alps from the Zugspitze to the Mont Blanc. The high head is therefore sought as an alternative to the often crowded peaks of Feldberg and Ballon.
