Hockenhorn

Summit pyramid of Hock Horns

The Hockenhorn is a 3'293 m high peaks north of the Lötschental on the border between the cantons of Bern and Valais in Switzerland.

In August 1840, the first ascent was held by the Englishman Arthur Thomas Malkin. Today, the Hockenhorn for experienced hikers is an easily climbed, summit with views of a large part of the Valais Alps to Mont Blanc.

Access is from the Loetschental over the Lötschenpass from the west or from the Lauchernalp of south / south-east over the mill stream glaciers to the summit upswing. The last piece runs from the north-west point ( depot for ski touring) on light gravel like steps to the summit.
