Hoefler & Co.

Hoefler & Frere -Jones, H & FJ, is an influential type foundry in New York City, which is headed by the designers Jonathan Hoefler and Tobias Frere -Jones. Founded in 1989 as "The Hoefler Type Foundry ," H & FJ fonts developed both for retail, as well as for private individuals.

Tobias Frere -Jones in 1993 developed the font Interstate. It is based on the signage typeface of the Federal Highway Administration. Another well-known font from H & FJ is Hoefler Text, which is included in Mac OS X Panther ( 10.3).

In January 2014 Frere - Jones left a company and brought suit because agreements on the division of ownership had not been adhered to his account. H & FJ pointed out in a statement the accusations and announced at the same time renamed Hoefler & Co.
