Höglwörther See

The Höglwörther Lake (also: Klostersee ) is a lake in the district Höglwörth of Anger in the district of Berchtesgaden. It is about 13.5 hectares and up to 6.4 m deep and is characterized as eutrophic. Directly on the lake is the monastery Höglwörth.

The lake was formed by melting of the glacier Saalachstrasse about 10,000 years ago. Today, he is subject to an unstoppable silting.

It provides the habitat for many animal species, such as pike, catfish, perch, eels, carp, perch, tench, white fish, ducks, coots and mute swans. Originally living in the lake crabs are already gone.
