Högvadsån

The river Högvadsån is the largest tributary of the Ätran.

The river arises in the southeast of the community Svenljunga in Västra Götaland County from several streams and then flows initially south -southwest, then south through the town of Falkenberg in Halland County. He touches, among others following localities: the tätorter Älvsered and Ullared and småorter Svartrå and Köinge.

In Ullared the Hjärtaredsån closes on him. South of Ullared lies the nature reserve Sumpafallen. Near the church of Svartrå leads to him of about 10 km long tributary Svartån. In Ätrafors he finally empties into the Ätran.

The Högvadsån together with the Ätran the most important fishing area for the west coast salmon. He is limed to counteract acid rain. As the " Natura 2000 " area it is under protection.
