The High Sprenzer lake lies between the cities Schwaan and Laage, located about 22 kilometers from Rostock. The area is characterized by an undulating ground moraine. To the west of the lake is the eponymous village of Hohen Sprenz and south of the site Dudinghausen. To the north of the district Dolgener Friedrichshof located on the shore. The lake has a length of approximately 2.8 kilometers and a width of 1.3 kilometers at an average depth of seven meters. The lake consists of a large central pool with several smaller islands and two distinctive elongated bays in the northeast and southwest. The lake is almost completely surrounded by a forest belt. It is situated in the conservation area Dolgener and High Sprenzer lake. In the north- east, the highway runs past 19 lakeside, two kilometers east begins the grounds of the airport Rostock -Laage.
