History

The station, which is at kilometer 98.23 of the Dresden- Werdau was opened on 15 November 1858. From 1860 to 1887 was located in the station building, the post office of Hohenstein. 1913 included 13 tracks of the train station. From 17 March 1913 to 26 March 1960, the station forecourt was the starting point of the overland tram Hohenstein- Ernstthal - Oelsnitz. About the freight station of Gütververkehr tram was settled, and two Aufstellgleise, a transfer track, a wooden Umladehalle together with loading crane and a rail connection was built to goods shed. Description

Reception building

For operation opening on 15 November 1858 reception building consisted only of the later middle part. From 1860 to 1887, the post and telegraph office was located in the reception building. In the years 1899-1902 the building was expanded, two annexes were built right and left of the existing building. There were in the building, the ticketing, baggage handling, a restaurant, a snack bar, which provides information and toilets. In addition, twelve railway dwellings were distributed on two floors. 1985 was the reception building his last painting in wine red and golden yellow. Railway station today

The station Hohenstein- Ernstthal now has three through main tracks, the third track has the function as Eingleisstelle. Regional Transport

The train station is from the regional express line Dresden -Nürnberg ( Franken- Sachsen- Express) operates every two hours with diesel railcars of Class 612. In addition, the regional express line keeps Dresden- yard ( Central Saxony -Vogtland - Express) with Class 143 bi-level cars, in addition morning and evening at the station. Former lines

Since the timetable change in December 2011, the Regional Express Zwickau / Chemnitz -Göttingen no longer serves the station. The transport association of Central Saxony ( ZVMS ) had saved the holding between Glauchau and Chemnitz. By September 2012, the station was Zoologischer of the Vogtland- Express from Plauen Berlin garden once served there and back every day.
