Hoher Riffler (Zillertal Alps)

The High riffler is a 3231 m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Zillertal Alps, in the east of the Tux Main Ridge, in the Austrian state of Tyrol. The mountain is firnbedeckt on its north side, from the south, he appears as a rocky summit. To the southwest, north, northeast and southeast of the mountain sends distinctive ridges, which bear some ways the rise. From the westerly shelter Spannagelhaus and the southern Friesenberghaus the mountain is easy to reach and therefore often visited. In winter it is an easy target for ski mountaineers. Environment

The Zillertal riffler is only surrounded to the north and west of glaciers. In the north, the Federbettkees extends to just below the summit, and in the west lies the much smaller Schwarzbrunnerkees. In the southeast are the remains of Rifflerkees present which is the sharp decline in the wake of global warming. Adjacent Mountains are in the course of the south-eastern ridge, separated by the location on 2910 m height Friesenbergscharte, the Frozen Wall peaks with 3288 meters, beyond the Federbettkees, along the Nordgrats that veers to the northeast, are separated by the Upper Rifflerscharte ( 2868 m), Grierer - Kar - peak ( 2952 m), Napfspitze ( 2925m ) and the 3039 m high real tip. In the course of Südostgrats lies above the Wesendlekarsees ( water level at 2375 m ), separated by the location at 2774 meters above sea level Lower Rifflerscharte, the Small riffler ( 2837 m). The next important settlement is about four kilometers in a straight line northwest winter resort Hintertux.

Bases and routes

A base for the ice-free ascent via the south ridge is the Friesenberghaus to 2477 m, above Friesenbergscharte southwest ridge and it is the Spannagelhaus. Both routes are about equal in difficulty in difficulty UIAA I and are considered normal route. From Friesenberghaus is the walking time, according to the literature, about two and a half hours, from Spannagelhaus it is a little shorter to the summit.
