Hokkaido Railway Company

The Hokkaido Railway Company (Jap.北海道 旅客 鉄 道 株式会社, Hokkaidō ryokaku tetsudō kabushiki gaisha, in short:北海道JR, JR Hokkaidō ) is one of the seven successor in 1987 privatized Japanese National Railways. It operates the formerly state-owned power on the island of Hokkaido.

History

JR Hokkaido was established on 1 April 1987, after the state railway company of Japan was privatized and split.

By on March 13, opened in 1988 Seikan Tunnel, the route network of JR Hokkaido with the route network of JR East Shinkansen and the network is connected.
