The railway line Holenbrunn - Selb was formerly a continuous branch line in Bavaria.

History

Spur track to Selb

It was opened in the city on October 25, 1894, the stretch of Selb - Plößberg - Selb. The local railway line ran from Selb - Plößberg station on the railway yard Eger to the old station Selb city. As a freight train led the tracks further to the Hutschenreuther Porcelain Factory (now BHS Tabletop ) at the Ludwig Mill.

Extension to Holenbrunn

On 1 May 1914, the local railway over Thiersheim after Holenbrunn at the Hof - Marktredwitz was extended.

Here, the former terminus was moved Selb city. A new through station with freight office was established in the north and was again designated by Selb city. The locomotives of the route could now be treated in a last four standing roundhouse with turntable. The roundhouse was assumed to be the locomotive train station depot yard. The engine shed is preserved, there is a railway museum housed.

The first station Selb city is called after the opening of the new Lower occasionally to differentiate as Selb city. At the first station area also the first two standing roundhouse is available without a hub. It is used as an office building.

Numerous industrial tracks led to the porcelain factories in the city area, some of which, such as the Rosenthal AG, with its own diesel or as Heinrich & Co. wagonload services, conducted with a Dampfspeicherlok in manufacturing plant.

Closure

Passenger traffic on the 22 km long section of Selb City Thiersheim - Holenbrunn was set on September 28, 1986, at the same time the freight traffic on the Blenheim - Thierstein and Thiersheim section. The section Selb Stadt- Blenheim - Thierstein was on 28 May 1988 and set between Wunsiedel Holenbrunn and Thiersheim on 5 March 1993. Was decommissioned Officially the section Selb City Thiersheim on February 25, 1993, the remaining piece on 1 May 1994.

Meanwhile, a bike lane was built almost on the entire route.

Identification of the output station

Following closure of the station in the center of the county town of Wunsiedel on the railway line Holenbrunn - Leupoldsdorf the Holenbrunn station was renamed Wunsiedel Holenbrunn to emphasize the rail transport links.
