Holger Zander

Holger Zander ( born May 24, 1943 in Saint Michaelisdonn ) is a former German canoeist.

Zander started his career with KS Cologne, from 1965 he started for the Rhine Dusseldorf loyalty. In 1963 he won the one-man kayak about 500 yards his first German championship title. In the same year he won together with Heinz Büker the bronze medal in double kayak at the World Championships in Jajce. The following year, Zander won in the German Championship in the one-person kayak over 500 meters and 1000 meters. At the Olympic Games in 1964 and won Zander Buker in two bronze. In four kayak Zander got together with Günter Pearl Mountain, Friedhelm Wentzke and Bernhard Schulze the silver medal behind the boat from the USSR.

1966 won Zander as 1964, the German title in one over 500 and 1000 meters, another title he won with the 4 x 500 - meter relay team of Rheinteue Dusseldorf. At the World Championships in East Berlin, he won together with Heinz Buker silver in two over 500 meters. 1967 and 1968 Zander defended the German Championship over 500 meters. His last international medal winning Zander with the German 4 x 500 - meter relay at the European Championships 1967 in Duisburg when he got together with Heinz Buker, Bernd Guse and Hans Günther silver behind the Romanian season. At the 1968 Olympic Games Zander reached with Bernhard Schulze the final in double kayak, finished there but only the ninth and last place.

Zander continued his career for several years continue, he won with the Düsseldorf Season 1970-1972 three times in a row in the German Championship in 1971 he won also the one in the 10,000 meters. For the Olympic Games of 1972, Zander could not qualify.
