Hollister is a city and county seat in San Benito County in the U.S. state of California with about 35,000 inhabitants ( 2010). The city forms the southern end of the Santa Clara Valley. The city covers an area of 18.8 square kilometers. Tied the city is several freeways to San Jose and San Francisco in the north. There is also an access to the railway. The San Andreas Fault runs through the city and can easily be seen in several places.

The city has become known by the processes at a meeting of motorcyclists on July 4, 1947.

The fashion company Hollister Co. is named after the city. The name Hollister obtained accordingly as an imprint on many garments, even outside the U.S., awareness.

Demography

According to the state of the census of 2010, the majority of the population are Hispanic or Latino of Hollister, namely around 65 percent. Around 29 percent are distributed European-derived white while the rest to other races as well as African Americans and Asians. The number of Latinos is thus quite high even for the California average. The number of households was the date of the survey to the census 9860. For every 100 females were 98.7 men, while the median age was 30.8 years. The inhabitants, however, had little overall change within a decade. Lived in 2000 still 34 413 people in the city, it was ten years later, 34 928.
