Hólmfríður Magnúsdóttir (yellow)

Hólmfríður Magnúsdóttir ( born September 20, 1984 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic footballer. The midfielder plays for the Icelandic national team.

Club career

Hólmfríður debuted in 2001 for KR Reykjavík in Icelandic league. 2002 and 2003 they won the championship with KR and won the 2002 nor the cup competition. In the 2005 season she played for ÍB Vestmannaeyja before she returned to KR. For the 2006/07 season Hólmfríður moved to the Danish club Fortuna Hjørring and then returned again to KR. In 2007 she was elected to Iceland's Player of the Year. In 2009 she joined the Swedish first division Kristianstad DFF and played there until December 2009. Previously, she had scored over 100 goals in the Icelandic league. It was followed in the spring of 2010 a trial at Philadelphia Independence in the WPS, and she signed a contract in Phily. After one and a half years Magnúsdóttir returned in July back to Iceland and played 2011 Valur Reykjavík. In 2012 she moved to Norway Avaldsnes IL.

National

Their first international match Hólmfríður completed on 16 February 2003 to the United States. She was part of the squad at the European Football Championship Women 2009 in Finland. Hólmfríður stood in all three group matches on the court. The team was eliminated from the tournament with 0 points, but lost it, both less than against Norway and Germany 0-1.
