Home Riggs Popham

Sir Home Riggs Popham ( born October 12, 1762, Gibraltar, † September 2, 1820 in Cheltenham ) was during the Napoleonic Wars, a British commander of the Royal Navy, for which he developed in 1803 a code signal. He was elected in 1799 to the Royal Society.
