Honda FT 500

The Honda FT 500 is a motorcycle by the Japanese manufacturer Honda from the early 1980s. Powered by a 500 - cm3 single-cylinder engine, it competed among others, the then successful on the market Yamaha SR 500 FT stands for " Flat Track ."

The look of the bike was inspired by the racing machines that were used in the U.S. in the so-called dirt track racing, hence the name flat track. The four-stroke engine was carried over unchanged primarily from the enduro Honda XL 500 S; however, has the FT 500 electric start and a larger oil pan with inserted from below the oil filter and larger exhaust ports on the cylinder head. The combination of open down tube frame, long, flat, employee telescopic fork with 37 mm stanchions strong and long wheelbase favored directional stability and comfort.

The production of the FT 500 was discontinued in Japan in 1983.
