Honinbo (competition)

The Hon'inbō (Japanese本因坊, Hon'inbō ) is the world's oldest tournament in the game of Go and is held annually in Japan since 1941. In addition to the Kisei and the Meijin Hon'inbō one of the top three Japanese Go tournaments and prize money of 32 million yen provided (approx. 220 280 EUR ).

Tournament mode

The title holder of the previous year will be challenged by the winner of Vorauscheidungskämpfe. Challenger and current title holders play seven games with 8 hours to think against each other. The player with the most games won wins the tournament and is formally called the Hon'inbō.
