honoris causa

Honoris causa (Latin honorary ', abbreviated hc ) for the designation of hired as awards degrees, names and titles that are deferred so by regularly acquired names ( degrees, official titles / designations ). Sometimes the distinction is only historical, as the "regular" is no longer awarded dignity.

If a person has several (at least three) received appreciations, so is the abbreviation hc mult. usual, which stands for honoris causa multiplex, ie, the multiple award.
