Hoop crown

Ironing crown, also called crown clasp, a special crown molding for male rulers, which is often detected as Carolingian rule characters from the middle of the 9th century.

In order to elevate the crown with a cross, let the first Christian emperor Justinian I ( Justinian the Great, 482-565 ) onto his crown spanning bracket as a mount for the cross, whereby the prototype of the bracket or brace crown arose. King Henry IV of England (1366-1413) was crowned in 1399 with a crown strap. Christian IV (1577-1648), King of Denmark and Norway, replaced the old royal crown by a closed bracket crown.

The crown strap was initially a four -pointed leaf crown with pearls between the crown tines. Later, the beads were replaced by small crosses. The tiara was fitted simply and a few gems. In heraldry, the crown is taken as a figure in the coat of arms shield.

A known Ironing crown is the Imperial Crown of the Holy Roman Empire.
