Hoover is an American city in the counties of Jefferson and Shelby, in the State of Alabama, in the United States. In 2008, Hoover had about 73,000 inhabitants.
Geography

History
The registration as City took place in 1967. Until the 1980s, the city was dominated mainly by residential areas. This changed with the construction of Interstate Highway I- 459, which bypasses Birmingham south and southeast, and a direct connection from I-20/I-59 west and east of Birmingham produced with the southward leading I-65.

At the time of the census of 2000, there were 62 742 persons Hoover. The population density was 561.7 people per km ². There were 27,150 housing units at an average 243.0 per km ². The population consisted of Hoovers 87.66 % White, 6.77 % African American, 0.16 % Native American, 2.89% Asian, 0.03 % Pacific Islander, 1.40 % reported other races to belong and 1.09 % from two or more races. 3.79 % of the population to be Hispanic or Latino of any race.
