Horayot

Horajot / הוריות (Eng. ", instruction " ) is a treatise of the Mishnah in order Nesiqin / נזיקין (Eng. " damage ").

The treatise dealing with mistakenly treated Horajot which have been issued, either intentionally or unintentionally. Chapter I deals with the question of instructions that were enacted by a rabbinical court, Chapter II examines va the consequences of false statements of the high priest. The end of the chapter prescribes various kinds of offerings for line people and runs thematically to the third chapter, which examines the differences in the case of Entsündigungsopfers between anointed priest and prince or king.

The treatise concludes with a reflection on the theoretical question of the order in which individuals' lives to be saved. The apparent rank is canceled by the finding that social outsiders but bookish people are preferable to an unlearned high priest.
