Horsenden

Horsenden is a village in Buckinghamshire, England. It is located in the central part of the county, near the border with Oxfordshire. The Icknield Way, a long distance footpath, whose origins can be traced back to pre-Roman times, through the village in east -west direction.

The village is probably named after Horsa, one of the first Anglo-Saxons, who settled in Kent in the fifth century. It is unlikely that Horsa country possessed on the boundary Horse Ndens, as the Anglo-Saxon conquest of this part of Britain took place only in the sixth century. However it is likely that the place in honor Horsas HORSAN - dun ( Horsas hill ) was named.

In 1480 the Welsh nobleman and diplomat Sir John Donne acquired a large estate in Horsenden.

The parish church is dedicated to Saint Horse Ndens Michael and All Angels.

Jay Kay, lead singer of the acid jazz band Jamiroquai lives in Horsenden Manor, where he has also set up its own private recording studio.
