Horst Bulau

Horst Bulau ( born August 14, 1962 in Gloucester, Ontario) is a former Canadian ski jumper. He is the most successful Canadian ski jumpers of all time. Because ski jumping in Canada but rather is a niche sport, was his success in Europe more attention than in his homeland.

Career

1979 Bulau junior world champion in ski jumping. In the following years he was very successful at the international level also with the seniors. Overall, he won in his career 13 World Cup Jumping, all between 1981 and 1983. The overall World Cup, he reached in the seasons 1980/81 and 1981/82 respectively the third, 1982/83 even the second, and 1983/84 once again the eighth in the World Cup Ranking. At the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, he reached on the normal hill the 38th, on the large hill tenth.

From 1986, he mostly played no whole World Cup season, but often participated only in the Four Hills Tournament and the jump in the Canadian Thunder Bay. When he entered, he nonetheless reached until the early nineties often finishes among the top ten, most recently in 1991 in Trondheim. At the Olympic Winter Games in 1988 at the Calgary native, he reached on the normal hill only the 44th, on the large hill on the seventh rank. The seasons 1988/1989 and 1989/1990 he was then off completely. After the disappointing verlaufenen for him 1992 Winter Olympic Games in Albertville, he finished his career.
