Horst Koschka

Horst Koschka ( born September 8, 1943 in Altenberg ) is a former German biathlete who competed for East Germany.

Koschka grew up in the border town osterzgebirgischen Cínovec up, went to school there and learned the trade of a wood model maker. At age 16, he joined in 1959 the East German biathlon center SG Dynamo Cínovec, where he was trained by Max Brown. 1962 and 1963 he was with the Dynamo Season DDR junior champion and won the 1964 Junior Championship in single race. His only DDR individual title in the men's area won Koschka 1969.

In the Biathlon World Championships started Koschka 1967 ( 8th Single ), 1969 (6th Single) 1970, where he finished in 3rd place with the GDR season.

His first Olympic participation experienced Koschka 1968 in Grenoble. There he was in single race and 10th in the relay 6 In the 1972 Olympic Games in Sapporo, he won with the GDR - season ( with Joachim Meischner, Hansjörg Knauthe and Dieter Speer ) 4 × 7,5 km take the bronze medal.

After his playing days was Koschka biathlon coach, later judges.
