Horst Posdorf

Horst Eckart Alwin Posdorf ( born February 8, 1948 in Dornum ) is a German mathematician, politician ( CDU) and former Member of the European Parliament. He belongs to the Group of the European People's Party ( EPP).

Education and work

After graduation and military service Horst Posdorf studied from 1968 Mathematics and Physics at the Ruhr- University Bochum and graduated in 1974 with a degree in mathematics from. 1974/1975 he was a trainee teacher and from 1975 Assessor of the Magisterium. From 1976 to 1978 Posdorf worked as a Research Assistant at the computer center of the Ruhr University and his doctorate in 1978 for Dr. rer. Between 1978 and 1980, he was then the rank of Study Council Lecturer at the University of Bochum and at the Fachhochschule Dortmund. 1981 came to him the reputation as a professor of mathematics at the University of Applied Sciences Dortmund.

Policy

Posdorf from 1985 to 2000 Member of the Landtag of North Rhine -Westphalia. Here, he was from 1985 to 1995, science spokesman for his group and from 1995 to 2000 Chairman of the Parliament Committee on European policy and development cooperation. 1996 Posdorf was Vice - President of the European Movement North Rhine -Westphalia.

In October 2005 he moved to the late Jürgen Zimmer Ling according to the European Parliament, where he served until the end of the parliamentary term in 2009.

Honors

In 1994 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit and 2002, the Federal Cross of Merit, First Class.

Posdorf 2007, was awarded by the Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni with the highest civilian Cambodian Medal, The Royal Medal of Monisaraphorn, Medal Grade Mohasereywat. 2008 him an honorary doctorate from the University of Cambodia was awarded for developmental services.
