Horta, Barcelona

Horta or officially Horta- is a municipality of Barcelona in the northeast of the Catalan capital. Horta was up to the incorporation in 1904, an independent village. The first mention of the place in the year 965 was the name of the village comes from the family Horta, who ruled in the area from 1036 to 1260. In the 17th century Horta reached a heyday and was the residence of many noble families and wealthy merchants.

In the 20th century Horta grew strong, numerous laundries were built. 1901 was the place nearest tram stop, mid-1960s, a subway line was built connecting with the station Horta.

Center of the district is the Plaça d' Eivissa, also include Horta of Laberint d' Horta as well as the Olympics and built in 1992 at the Palau d' Esports sports venues Vall d' Hebron as the Horta Velodrome.
