Horton -in- Ribblesdale is a place with 498 inhabitants ( 2001) in North Yorkshire in the Yorkshire Dales.

Historically, the village belonged to the West Riding of Yorkshire and the parish church of St. Oswald goes back to the 12th century back. After the dissolution of the monasteries during the Reformation the possession of the lands to the Earl of Lennox went on. Then the land was taken over by different groups of landowners.

The place that has a station on the Settle - Carlise Railway - is now known as the starting point for walks and entrances in the numerous caves in the region. The place is located west of Pen-y- ghent and traditional starting point of the Three Peaks Walk.
