Hospital Records is one of the largest and best-known record labels in the Drum & Bass world sector.

History and Background

The two founders of the label Tony Colman and Chris Goss have been working together since 1993, two years before formation of the company. Tony's last band was the London Street-Soul/Jazzfunk Combo IZIT, which existed from 1988 to 1995. Chris previously worked in a record store for soul and jazz in London's SoHo. Tony started the label Tongue and Groove in 1992, in which Chris came in 1993 as label manager. Chris and Tony did not start until the year 1994, together to produce music. In 1995, she joined again the label Tongue and Groove and formed two new labels with the name Hospital and Galactic Disco Music. The latter was a label for London House and radio and home of Future Homosapiens, Orkestra Galactica and Funky Nasa -. Everything nickname for Tony and Chris' artistic creation in the years 1996-1998 Hospital but was over time the more successful of the two labels why Galactic Disco Music was closed again in 1998. Hospitals first publications brought the label a small underground fan base, ultimately, it was the spring of 1998, however, London Elektricitys Song In The Key of Knife, which earned the attention of the Drum & Bass scene the label. Tony and Chris' first album Pull The Plug under the name of London Elektricity (published in summer 1999 ), received very good reviews and is now seen as a classic of the D & B albums.

In 2000, she published the first in a series of freestyle compilations with the name Out Patients, which they signaled that the hospital no longer just a pure Drum & Bass label is. Shortly afterwards, her foster son Tim country aka Landslide published there his debut album Drum Bossa and thus attracted a whole new audience from the jazz, breakbeat and 2 -step scene. Danny Byrd signed his contract in the summer of 2000, moved in. Fabio and towards the end of the year Link Barrett, better known today as High Contrast.

Since her label grew, Chris 2002 moved from the studio back in order to fully concentrate on the work at Hospital Records can, leaving Tony thereby assuming responsibility for London Electricity. At this time London Electricity was thanks to a series of very successful releases of compilations such as Plastic Surgery, or Out Patients series to well accepted artist albums such as High Contrasts debut True Colours and London Elektricitys Billion Dollar Gravy, one of the most sought after D & B combos.

2004, published Live Gravy and The Future Sound of Cambridge were more blocks to success of the label and brought talents like Nu- Tone and Logistics forth. Cyantific signed his record deal. High Contrasts second album, High Society with the pieces Basement Track and Racing Green were up on BBC Radio 1 Daytime or the Notting Hill Carnival and played down. The label moved that year from Baron 's Court to Forest Hill, South London, where it is headquartered today.
