Hossein Askari

Hossein Askari ( born March 23, 1975 in Khomein ) is an Iranian cyclist.

Hossein Askari is one of the most successful Iranian cyclists since the mid- 2000s. Several times he won stage races in the Asian region, as of 2005, the Tour d' Indonesia, 2007 and 2008, Azerbaijan Tour, 2010, the Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey and 2012, the Tour de Brunei. In 2007 and 2008 he won the UCI Asia Tour and was three times Iranian champion time trial (March 2014). He also won five medals at the 2014 Asian Cycling Championships in the individual and in the team time trial.

Three times - in 2000, 2004 and 2008 - started Askari at the Olympics, in the road race and in the individual pursuit on the track. His best Olympic finish was a 15th place in 2004 in pursuit.
