Hostage Rescue Team
The Hostage Rescue Team (HRT ) (German: Hostage rescue group ) is a special unit of the U.S. federal investigating agency FBI, which is focused on the fight against terrorism.
Organization and order
The unit was established in 1983 under the impact of the hostage-taking at the Olympic Games in 1972 as a full-time SWAT to establish a nationally applicable anti-terrorism unit and to respond to any similar acts of terror at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
