Hot-wire foam cutter

Differently than a conventional saw with a Thermosäge the material to be cut is melted. Accordingly, this is suitable only for materials that melt at relatively low temperatures, such as for example foams of thermoplastic materials (which are, for example, insulating boards made of Styrodurhartschaum, polystyrene foam, polystyrene foam ), wax or ice.

Its main application is the Thermosäge in architectural model, airplane model ( wing production ), at the scene of advertising design when editing foam polystyrene in building insulation and EIFS work.

The most important element of Thermosäge is a metal wire, which is necessary because of the resistance always of an iron alloy (steel, stainless steel, heat conductors ). The high current flowing through the wire heats up to working temperature. For reliable power supply a low-voltage power supply unit must be used to prevent accidental touching of the wire without consequences. More complex models are frequently additionally include a fan to ventilate the hot wire to an overheating of the same counter to the non-intersecting points.
