Hotel Føroyar

The hotel Føroyar is a four -star hotel with 216 beds above the Faroese capital Tórshavn.

Next to the Hotel Hafnia in the center of the capital, it is the only four -star hotel in the country. At the same time, it is the largest and youngest ( opened in 1983 as the Hotel Borg ), is architecturally the most notable buildings in the Faroe Islands. It was built to a design by the architects Friis & Moltke from Denmark. Similar to the House of the north there is a flat construction with a traditional grass roof and complete harmony with the landscape. Slightly below the hotel, the small forest Viðarlundin í Kerjum expands.

The elongated complex perched on a hillside north of town on the road 10 and offers a view over the whole area with the island Nólsoy in the background. Most panoramic photos of Tórshavn be shot from up here.

Both the first-class restaurant ( international cuisine and Faroese ) and the rooms have the same view. Not least because it is with locals a preferred venue for conferences, weddings and events of all kinds The fourth star was the hotel in 2004.

Currently the hotel is still owned by the Smyril Line, but will be sold for the benefit of refinancing the modern ferry Norröna.

Next to the hotel there is the Føroyar Hostel Torshavn ( Vallaraheimið Tórshavn ).
