Houndstooth

In a repeat pattern or, in common language, also called patterns, understood as a repetitive, area- filling element for surface design, which is produced by weaving, knitting fashion, dyeing or printing. When weaving fabrics of different patterns can be created by using different types ( Fadenverwebung ).

Prince of Wales and Prince of Wales check

Should also be noted here that there may be differences between scientific and common language usage. As often is not exactly between glen ( Glen Urquhart plaid english ) and Prince of Wales check distinction ( cf. Janet Wilson, p 116). The background is a previously ambiguous and partly inaccurate source location here.

The Prince of Wales (English Glen Urquhart check " Checked "; Glen is a mountain valley ) is a traditional pattern for shirts and outerwear such as suits, rare for ties. The design was developed in a district near Loch Ness in the Highlands of Scotland, where the Urquhart Castle Loch Ness surmounted (see Janet Wilson, p 116).

Proceeds through a fine check pattern is another contrast color overplaid is spoken by the Prince of Wales check. The original Prince Of Wales check was woven for Edward II of England when he was Prince of Wales beginning of the 14th century. Edward VIII, however, who in the early 20th century Prince of Wales was (later Duke of Windsor ) was the Prince of Wales ( Glen Urquhart check) without overplaid. This has led to the confusion regarding the naming of these very similar checked pattern (see Janet Wilson, p 215).

The contrasts for both Karoarten can thereby be selected to different degrees; the stronger the sport is the occasion or use. Basically, a Glencheckmuster is more suitable for daily clothing than for the evening festive appearance.

This classic pattern has emerged from the Scottish Clan costumes, which are distinguished by different types of pattern. In England ( where this fabric pattern is very popular ) is may also not clearly distinguish between Glen Uruquhart check and Prince of Wales check, supra In France the pattern as Prince de Galle and in Austria as Esterhazy is known.

Houndstooth

The names may be different on the source location. Houndstooth, Pepita and Vichy are applied inconsistently in the fashion press, on the Internet and in various textbooks and often does accurately discriminated. So this Kleinkaros dive often under the undifferentiated collective term " Houndstooth " or " Pepita " ( houndstooth / dogtooth / chicken 's foot check) on. A differentiated naming particular offer to Thomas Meyer Capel Lens " Encyclopedia of tissue" and Janet Wilson's " Classic and modern fabrics ." The naming here is based to rule on the technical design of the connecting tissue. The houndstooth is woven on the basis of plain weave, mostly two-colored fabric with check pattern. Because of the plain weave, the extracts are here and not at an angle perpendicular and diagonal as in Pepita and Vichy ( Vichy not to be confused with gingham ).

Paisley

Paisley or Paisley pattern is the name of an abstract, decorative fabric pattern, which in its basic form is a sheet with a pointed, curved end in the manner of a large " comma". It originally comes from the Persian- Indian culture region and is also known as boteh or buta. Mostly processed into high quality neckties.

Pepita

Pepita is the houndstooth -like pattern, which was named after the artist Josefa de la Oliva ( Pepita is the diminutive of " Pepa ", short for Josefina, at the same time there is the pun Pepita de la Oliva for " olive pit "). It consists of small two-color (usually black and white ) squares with diagonal compounds, in contrast to the houndstooth pattern in which the connections between the individual squares are at right angles. ( English: shepherd's check) repeat sizes up to 1 cm is called Pepita, repeat sizes from 1 cm block or Küchenkaro. Differences are Pepita plain and twill weave (see illustrations).

Mostly it is bright warp in dark ground tissue of mostly dark gray or dark blue color. The pinstripe suit is often associated with elevated society, but above all - mostly dark blue - almost uniform clothing in international business.

Vichy

Vichy (English houndstooth check or dogtooth check) is always twill weave with diagonal separations in contrast to the rectangular extracts in houndstooth ( plain weave ). Vichy (pictured left) must not be confused with gingham (pictured right).
