House of Dun

House of Dun is located together with the adjacent Montrose Basin Nature Reserve owned by the National Trust for Scotland in Angus, Scotland.

The Dun Estate was from 1375 to 1980 the home of the Erskine family (later Kennedy - Erskine ). The present house was designed by architect William Adam and completed in 1730. In some areas there are elaborate wall decorations. The writer and poet Violet Jacob was a member of the Kennedy family - Erskine was born in this house.

Archaeological excavations have shown that the adjacent site was inhabited 9000 years ago by people.
