House of Low Culture

House of Low Culture is a Founded in 2000, American Drone-/Ambient-/Noise-Formation. The only constant member of the band 's Aaron Turner (including ex -Isis and Mamiffer ), around which an ensemble of constantly changing guest musicians lined up. These include, among other, his wife Faith Coloccia (including Mamiffer ) and Stephen O'Malley (including Sunn O )))). Named has the band after one represented at the Sawblade EP Song of Isis.

According to Turner, the concept of House of Low Culture is to break musical clichés and a counteracting established and elitist musical cultures.

Although Turner a structured procedure is preferred, many of the song ideas are created through improvisation. Often there is a single sound the impetus for a whole song. Starting from this sound developed a structural Turner song structure in which it tries to specify the individual song parts in length and tenor. However, the final sound is only revealed during the creative phase.
