House of Stammern

The family of Stammern, also Stammer, was an old knightly Saxon noble family.

History

The family was first mentioned in 1295 with Conrad dictus Stammern. The family was in order Anhalt and in Ballenstedt, including wealthy in Ermsleben, Görlsdorf, Polleben, Wedlitz, West Village, Wörmlitz. Since 1420 sat on Balgstädt. The same brother of Bishop Heinrich / Heinz von Stammer was 1471-76 pin captain in Zeitz, and sat in 1482 and 1483 in Plotha Balgstädt. Adrian Arndt and Henning von Stammer were members of the Fruchtbringende society. Carl Friedrich von Stammer was in 1752 at the Naumburg Domcapitel. Eckhardt August von Stammer ( 1772) was the Landkomtur Coming Lucklum of belonging to the Teutonic Order, Bailiwick of Saxony.

Coat of arms

The family coat of arms in Siebmachers armorial of 1605 shows a silver slant right crossbar on a red background. The helmet covers are red and silver. The crest consists of red pennon of golden shafts.
